This may will be one you want to get into to get a better idea of the group as a whole. If you haven't heard of Incognito and are looking for a cd of theirs to purchase. It only serves to add what is a truly great effort by a very talented band.
That I would buy one of their cds and see what I had been missing. There are various influences and styles throughout this cd but they are able to come together. I've heard about them awhile back but I never decided until recently.
In short to create one excellent musical ride that you don't want to end even after the last song.Tales from the Beach is an excellent well done album with a nice guest spot by Maysa on the album. Love "Tales from the Beach" and i WILL definitely buy more music from them in the future. Well after several listens to "Tales from the Beach".
I've missed a lot it is a truly great effort by Incognito altogether with each song melding into the next with ease and style.
Tales is well balanced with a rich, but detailed sound. Previous recordings by Incognito have been unevenly recorded/mixed, to the point where I rarely listen to "eleven" even though the music is great. Great album from a great band. I'm a longtime cog fan -- yes, I do have everything they've ever released (to my knowledge). This ranks among their best session, and importantly, has dramatically improved sound quality.
However, this CD does not excite my senses at all. This of course is all my personal opinion based on my taste. The mixing on this CD is good and brings out good contrasting of instruments but the actual song arrangements seem average. A couple of the songs reminded me of Roy Ayers from some years ago. You my love it. Nothing stands out. This CD seems good for background music in a restaurant or maybe if you have a large music collection this would serve as something like a filler of available space if you use some type of multi disk CD player or music server as the music here is not on the terrible side.
Good purchase. This is such a refreshing CD and I really enjoy listening to it, but of course Incognito is one of my favorites and they are just great all the time.
I agree with the reviewer who stated more instruments/instrumentals would have made the CD more lively. I am familiar with some of their popular tunes. Step Aside really got the joint of to a good start. Well this offering starts of strong but has a few slow moments particularly the ballads were hard to get into. I had been recommended this from Amazon although I really have not been following this group consistently.
